If you are wanting to head up to the Yarra Valley for a nice meal in beautiful surroundings, head towards the De Bortoli Vineyard. This restaurant sits right in the middle of their gorgeous vineyard and is a great place for a special occasion or just to impress an overseas visitor. On this occasion, it was my husband’s birthday.

I’ll admit that I’m not a huge fan of red wines from the Yarra Valley. Most of them I had tried previously were a little bit on the lighter side. Shiraz is my preferred red (best from the Barossa Valley) but De Bortoli impressed me with their Syria and Cabernet Sauvingnon. These wines went down quite nicely with the antipasto entre and the pork steak that I had for my main. My other half had to have their duck as it had fabulous reviews and the little one was happy to devour the fish and chips, followed by icecream! The meals were of good portions. Two courses were plenty for each of us.

It was a lovely meal with friendly service. We’re definitely heading back.
