Love Desire Riches - Rippon Lea Melbourne

Love Desire Riches

I took up wedding photography because of my love of all things wedding related – especially the wedding dress! Needless to say, when the ‘Love, Desire and Riches’ wedding dress exhibition came to town, I would be heading down to check it out.

The exhibition is held at a gorgeous wedding venue, the Ripponlea House and Gardens, which I’ve never actually been to previously! It’s a stunning wedding location with a fabulous garden and a man-made lake which you can take a row-boat out on to in the warmer months. There’s definitely plenty of spots for gorgeous photos of your special day.

The Love, Desire and Riches exhibition is a collection of 50 wedding dresses from yesteryear to now. It’s collection includes dresses from Kylie Minogue’s ‘Neighbours’ wedding to that Valentino dress, handmade for Princess Marie Chantal of Greece – reportedly costing many months of work and a whopping $300,000 (see second last photo). There are also dresses from Maticevski (worn by Jennifer Hawkins), Collette Dinnigan, and Akira Isogawa.

It was nice to be able to take a close-up look at some of these amazing gowns from real weddings and from films. The amount of work that goes into some of these dresses is just astounding! Wedding dress designers deserve the prices they command!
