The Timeless Trench

Everyone needs a good trench coat or two in their wardrobe. This coat is super versatile and can see you through the day and into the night. This classy piece of clothing has survived decades of the fast-paced change of fashion trends. Being someone who tries to keep sustainability and ethical buying in mind with my fashion choices, the trench coat is a step in the right direction – especially when I found this fabulous one in a Vinnies store!

The Conscious Fashionista – Vinnies Op Shops

Yes, I op-shop. You may be surprised to learn that lots of my clothes which you see on my blog are from op-shops. Not only is it kind on my pockets, it’s kind on the world as well. Something I’ve always been trying to drum out is that looking good does not mean that you have to have the latest and greatest, or that you have to spend a fortune! Mixing my ethical fashion with some pieces from my new fashion gives me a clean conscience. Yes, I still buy new items but try to balance it out with buying second hand.

Drop the idea that op-shops and second-hand clothing is daggy! Peruse through my blog and see the lovely sustainable fashion pieces. This gorgeous trench is one of those pieces! It’s the perfect jacket for keeping me stylishly warm on a mild winter’s day, right through to spring and early summer. It’s something which will be worn a lot more than some of the ‘on trend’ fashion which is causing so much waste in our landfills world-wide. Even when I do buy new fashion pieces, I try to stick with quality which will last or can be re-used by the next fashionista.

Feel-Good Fashion

Vinnies is one of my favourite sustainable fashion outlets. Not often do I leave their stores empty-handed. There’s so much variety there, and it’s the place to grab some great quality pieces at a fraction of the price. There’s something lovely about knowing that your pre-loved item is not bought by hundreds of others during that season. Vinnies’ profits go to support the local community with crucial programs, so it’s a win-win situation for all when you shop there. Jump on the ethical fashion train and start shopping second-hand. You’re going to look stylish while you do the world some good.

Styling the Trench

Styling this Kookai trench coat was so easy. It’s teamed with a velvet dress (Review) which I’ve had for a while and velvet ankle boots, which were a recent purchase from Sportsgirl. This silver Oroton Forte clutch is a favourite handbag of mine. I love this bag so much that I’ve got one in tan as well! Jewellery was kept simple, only adding a silver bangle to compliment the outfit. This is a great look for a weekend lunch date, whip off the jacket and it takes me into the cocktail hours! This trench will also go well with jeans for a more casual look for if you’ve got some running around to do.

The fashion photo shoot was done in our newly finished studio and I do love the results of the photo shoot. Hope that this is inspiring you to shop sustainably and ethically. If you’re still not sure about purchasing second-hand, donate your good quality unwanted wardrobe pieces to Vinnies
