Country Racing outfit - Racewear 2019/2020 Trends

Vineyard Fashion

This Pasduchas Vineyard wiggle dress is a style which I just love. The print is so fresh and it hugs the body so nicely. This style of dress is very flattering for most body shapes. The neckline is feminine and can also be worn off-the-shoulder. The hemline falls modestly to mid-calf (midi length) which is my most preferred length for an outfit. It’s very Dolce & Gabanna-like and the kind of dress you could wear almost everywhere! The Yarra Valley Cup was where this dress made its debut out from my wardrobe.

Dressed For The Location

Since I was heading up to the Yarra Valley, home of the vineyards, I thought that this outfit was a perfect choice. Ok, so my day was spent on the racecourse and not a vineyard but it was close enough! The weather was on the warmer side for autumn, reaching 30 degrees!

Although we were informed that summer attire was acceptable, both the winners of the Best Millinery and Lady Of The Day categories sported felt headwear. Everyone looked so beautiful and the level of fashion was comparable to what you would see during the Melbourne Cup – on a smaller scale of course.

Millinery to Match

A dress this beautiful called for an equally beautiful piece of millinery. Going along with the vineyard theme, I decided to create a straw cocktail hat with a bunch of straw grapes on it. This is the reason I took up millinery – so that I can produce the perfect hat for any outfit. The hat was fiddly and time-consuming to make. But it turned out perfectly and gives my outfit the couture look which I was after. Little cocktail hats are so easy to wear but I did find that I was bumping my bunch of grapes on other people’s millinery! Regardless, I loved wearing it and received so many compliments!

Creative Fashion

Keeping with my new year’s resolution of not buying anything new this year, I painted an existing handbag white (using a leather paint) and added a giant pearl necklace as a handle. You would think that I already owned a white bag but somehow I didn’t! Jewellery was kept simple. I am wearing my favourite giant pearl earrings (another one of my own creations) and my giant pearl ring. The white medium height heels are an old favourite and are so comfortable to get around in!

Fashion and Fun

Because my wonderful friends had previously won competitions at Yarra Valley, we were invited to enjoy the wonderful hospitality inside the VIP Lounge. It was a day of great company and conversations about fashion over some refreshing beverages. The music had the crowd dancing. What a beautiful way to spend the day and close off my summer racing season.
