TThere are only two German restaurants in Melbourne and one of them is the Hofbrauhaus situated in Market Lane in Melbourne’s CBD. At Hofbrauhaus, you are greeted by friendly staff dressed in a dirndl (tradition German dress).
This a place to enjoy a traditional Bavarian style meal, beer and schnapps. Their schnitzel is great (did you try the 1.5kg Schnitzel Challenge?) and so is their meat platter for two. Make sure you try their delicious german beer – according to germans there is only one size – the 1l Masskrug (called “Stein” in Australia).
I will be visiting Germany soon … unfortunately not for the Oktoberfest. I should try one of these Dirndls one day. What do you think? Should I?
