So it’s become a bit of a habit for Melbourne to throw some rain and chill about on the official launch of the Melbourne Cup Carnival! It’s been like this for the last few years! Not to worry, there was plenty of champagne and coffee on offer to warm keep us warm.
Melbourne Cup 2015
Having checked the weather forecast the day beforehand, a quick change of dress selection was in order. Since I’m loving the crown trend this season, I quickly pulled apart an existing necklace and created my crown for the occasion. I really thought that my sleeved ASOS midi-dress would be sufficient to keep me warm. It was just missing a winter jacket!
The official proceedings were held outside, with Gai Waterhouse being the most appropriately dressed for the weather – she was clever enough to wear a fur coat! For the rest of us, we huddled around each other and the heaters, trying our hardest not to look too cold. Goose bumps covered the pretty bodies of the Myer models and other fashionistas who were dressed in summery outfits. We all gave up on trying to keep our hair tamed as the wind consistently tossed us all about. It did make for some fun photos!
After the official proceedings, it was upstairs to an enclosed area to thaw out and enjoy some delicious food and company. It was nice to have some one-on-one time with last year’s National Fashions on the Field stunner, Brodie Worrell. What a lovely way to spend the first half of the day! And because they knew how much we love Mumm Champagne, we all walked away with a bottle in hand.
Spring Racing Carnival 2015 … we can’t wait
Thank you Flemington VRC and all the lovely sponsors for having us there to kick-start the 2015 Melbourne Cup Carnival! We’re looking forward to heading out there to capture the beauty and atmosphere of another wonderful Melbourne Cup Carnival.
