So frenchy – So chic. Since it started seven years ago, I’ve been wanting to go to this event – only to have it slip past again and again. This year was the year and what better way to enjoy it than from the comfort of the Renault Australia enclosure! We were a couple of the fortunate few who received an invite to experience some French-style hospitality while enjoying the all-female lineup of amazing French artists performing on stage. French flair in Melbourne
The sprawling grounds of Werribee Mansion was the perfect location for this event. It’s been a while since we were last there and we were working then, so there was no time to enjoy the area. It’s a truely beautiful historic building (1870) with a lot of old-world charm, something which France is filled with! Festival-goers brought in beach shelters, picnic rugs and low picnic chairs along with their own food and beverages if they chose to. There were enough food and drink vendors onsite serving up French cuisine and beverages. You could indulge in crepes, cheeseboards, raclette, charcuterie and other delicious French delicacies. There was plenty of chilled champagne and cocktails to keep us cool.
Even though the So Frenchy, So Chic is a family-friendly event, we decided to dump our 9 year old with his grandparents nearby to get full enjoyment out of our day. There’s just too much to see! It was nice to be able to come and go as we pleased and enjoy adult conversations without little one hounding us to go home. We were also able to get some nice photos at the event! For those who brought their kiddies along, there were games, face painting, flower crown artisans, bubble blowing and péntanque games to entertain them. Best thing is that kids 12 years and under get free entree!
So frenchy so chic presented by Renault Australia
Renault Australia has been the major sponsor of the So Frenchy, So Chic event for the seven years which it has been running. It kicked off it Adelaide and will now head off to Sydney for their last event on Jan 19th. Stylish french cars paired with amazing french music!
Melbourne reached a high of 34 degrees the day of the event, just bordering on bearable for being out and about. It’s amazing to see the energy from the performers dancing around on stage! The line-up included the charismatic Camille Dalmais and her entourage. Camille’s unique voice and percussion-heavy music had the crowd on their feet. Cléa Vincent, Clara Luciani and Yelle were also on stage. Yelle donned an amazing sequin, hooded body suit which glistened in the sunlight. Her energetic performance had the crowd jumping along with her as she closed the event – Complètement Fou (Totally Crazy).
If you’ve never been, get some friends together and book this into your calendar for next year. It’s a fabulous garden party where you can dress up (just wait for my outfit blog post tomorrow) or dress down and head out to enjoy some French flair in Australia.
See you 2020 …
