Wine and Wildlife at Healesville Sanctuary

Over the Queen’s Birthday weekend, we headed up to Healesville Sanctuary to check out the Wine & Wildlife event which runs over the long weekend. This is where you can wonder through stunning bushland and visit cute animals while enjoying some of Yarra Valley’s best food and wine. It’s a great day for the whole family.

The cold weather didn’t deter visitors. There was a huge turnout on the first day of the event. With such a great line-up Yarra Valley wineries and craft beers and ciders, the event is always going to be a success. Food trucks where there on hand to feed the hoards of hungry visitors with winter-warming dishes. Live acoustic music kept everyone entertained in the picnic areas.

Australian Native Animals

There are so many animals to visit at Healesville Sanctuary, with some fantastic shows and up-close and personal opportunities. The ‘Spirits of the Sky’ show is not to be missed and kids and adults alike will enjoy feeding the birds in the aviary. Close-up encounters require advanced bookings but are an amazing experience for all.

All the proceeds of this event will go directly towards supporting Zoos Victoria’s fight to keeping 21 local threatened species from extinction.
