melbourne getaway - a short holiday in the most livable city

Romantic Getaway in Melbourne

We’re not normally ones to hit the city for a getaway, mainly because we live so close to the Melbourne CBD! Our invitation to experience the new Melbourne Sheraton on Little Collins Street was too lovely to refuse. It was a mini break during a very hectic time, at a luxurious hotel which has all the facilities that was required for us to rejuvenate during such a hectic period. We stayed in a spacious superior room with views of the city.

Melbourne Luxury Hotel

The Sheraton only opened for operation earlier this year and is conveniently located within a stones throw away from fantastic restaurants, bars and cafes that Melbourne has to offer. The hotel checks all the right boxes for me. There’s a pool, spa and a steam room to help rejuvenate my tired body. I’m so addicted to steam rooms! There’s also a day spa, offering different treatments  and you don’t have to be a hotel guest to enjoy them. The pool & gym areas are also open to the public so you don’t have to stay there to enjoy their facilities.

For those who don’t want to wander too far for their meal, there’s Little Collins Kitchen which is located on the first floor of the Sheraton. It’s a delightful and bright little restaurant with very French decor, which is offering a decadent High Tea and a wonderful seafood buffet. The Terrace Bar is a cool space for drinks and a view of the city. It would be best enjoyed on a warm summer night but they pull down the transparent blinds for those wet and windy days. It was unfortunately closed the night we were there, only opening from Tuesday through to Saturday.

Date Night

It was Andreas’ birthday the day beforehand so we used that for an excuse to drop the kids of and head out on a date, something that a couple should do on a regular basis! We had a lovely time soaking in the spa and the heat of the steam room. We ate way too many sweets at the High Tea, not leaving a lot of room for our dinner which was to follow.

Our dinner restaurant of choice was the Atlantic, located at the Crown Complex, which was only a short distance away. After managing two courses of delicious seafood and skipped the dessert as the sugar from the High Tea was still running around in our system. After that, we enjoyed a relaxed and well needed stroll back to the Sheraton. With no kids to run home to, we made a detour to the relaxed Supper Club for a nightcap as it was only a couple of minutes walk away from our hotel.

The dress of choice for my date night is a sultry lace knee-length one with long sleeves. It’s from Mossman at Uni Hill Factory Outlets. Have a look at the images below and check out this new inspiration post.
