Melbourne Summer Events
It may not be as glitzy and as crowded as the Melbourne Cup Carnival but the Polo in the city event is a great, relaxed day out. Fashion is more casual glamour, with white dominating the field. Ladies wore playsuits, shorts and off-the-shoulder dresses with floppy hats. The gents still turned up in suits, some opting for shorts and blazers to help them beat the summer heat.
Polo in the City is conveniently located in Albert Park, just outside of Melbourne’s CBD. Spectators watch some of the top Australian polo players fight it out for the Waterford Trophy, while sipping away on champagne and beer in one of the various marquees there. There’s an all inclusive entertainment package to suit most, ranging from the more glamorous Landrover and Pol Roger VIP marquee to the relaxed Stella Artois marquee. There is a DJ playing music to entertain all marquees.
Fashions on the Field at the Polo
There is also a Fashions on the Field competition for both the ladies and the gents! Entrants are selected by the fashion scouts roaming around on the day so make sure you are dressed in your best polo spectator outfit! The winners walked away with a $2000 gift voucher each to enjoy spending at Waterford Crystal!
Part of the frivolities of the day included a barefoot dash for the players caps. The lucky ones to get hold of a cap walked away with a goody bag. It’s a tradition at every Polo in the City event.
There were some well known local faces at the event. Beautiful Rebecca Judd was a guest of the Land Rover marquee and had the glamorous job of throwing the ball in to kick off the game.
The Melbourne polo team was triumphant on this day.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there myself to enjoy the fun. Luckily my talented other half was there to cover this fabulous event for us. We love shooting events such as this and sharing it right here with you. Enjoy!
