A dream setting for a wedding
The George Ballroom took my breath away the moment I stepped inside. It’s the dream setting for a wedding or special event which demands grandeur or romance. This stunning space had been closed for nine years, and after some extensive restoration, it’s ready to host special events once more.
A Melbourne wedding venue without comparison
You would usually have to travel to Europe for a venue of this beauty. With it’s ornate carvings and peeling paint, every corner of this space offers a gorgeous backdrop for any special event. Damm Fine Foods and Two Birds Talking came together to create a wonderful opening ceremony, treating us to a sample of what awaits the Ballroom’s future guests.
The look for the day was not what you’d normally expect from within the George Ballroom. Yes, there were the French chairs and cushions around the room, the staff were smartly attired and we were entertained by a classic three piece band. Our lunch setting consisted of modern chairs and the table was stylishly laden with a long line of native foliage which flowed onto the floor. There was not a single flower in sight. This was one classy event which no-one on the invite list wanted to miss.
On the Menu:
- Gold leaf covered quail egg with volcanic salt, served on a seaweed bird nest
- Beetroot and horseradish jelly with dried yogurt lollies
- Chicken and clam comsomme with oyster leafhttps://www.fabulous-femme.com/wp-admin/profile.php
- Poached marron and black truffle risotto with saffron broth
- Anise salted duck breast with shiitake and duck leg pithivier and liquorice lacquered grapes
Every bit was as delectable as it sounds! Damm Fine Foods definitely knows what it takes to impress. They will definitley leave every guest on a food high. Then, to top it all off, we were ushered to the Salon (just to the side of the George Ballroom) to enjoy the best macarons in town! Yes, these tiny morsels of deliciousness were from my favourite macaron makers – La Belle Miette.
The George Ballroom is one of those venues where you could photograph at again and again. We’re definitely looking forward to photographing weddings at this stunning Melbourne wedding venue.
