Spa De Marrakech
Nestled within the scenic foothills of the Dandenong Ranges (Victoria, Australia) is a tranquil spa retreat, the Spa De Marrakesh and Roman Bathhouse. Starting from the lush green drive towards the retreat, you begin to feel a sense of calmness. The retreat is surrounded by greenery and is located at the Japanese Mountain Retreat boutique resort.
No expense was spared in creating a lavish Moroccan environment for us to enjoy right here in Melbourne. Most of the decor in the Moroccan lounge, including the Casablanca inspired archway, have been imported. There are decorative brass Moroccan lanterns and luxurious drapes adorning the alcoves where you are served delicious Middle Eastern cuisine. Sip on mint tea from the gorgeous Moroccan tea set while you wait for your treatments.
You can just choose to relax in the steam room or bathe in hot mineral water in the opulent Roman Bathhouse where beautiful oil paintings cover each end. There are also some wonderful treatments which you can enjoy on your own or with a partner.
A bit of luxury …
Our romantic pampering spa treatment started with an invigorating desert sand body scrub. We then entered our private steam temple (with colour therapy) where we enjoyed smothering each other with mineral rich clay from the Moroccan Atlas mountains, followed by a rain shower to wash away the clay. A full body massaged finished off our indulgent spa experience.
After the spa treatment, we sat in one of the Moroccan alcoves to enjoy a three course Middle Eastern feast before heading back to reality.
