Fashions on the Field 2014
The Caulfield Blue Diamond Stakes Day holds the largest Fashions on the Field event outside of the Spring Carnival season. There was a category for the young fashionistas seventeen years old and under, the couples category, then the stylish ladies 18 and over.
With prizes which included a $20,000 trip for two to the races at Royal Ascot, ladies dressed in beautiful race wear filled up four heats.
Racing Fashion – Winning the Fashions on the Field in Caulfield
It’s been a little while since I entered one of these competitions so I felt inspired to do it again. Looking around at the high standard of racing fashion around me, the chances were slim of taking out the big prize. It’s just such a fun thing to be part of, aside from the fear of taking to the stage – no matter how many times you’ve done it before! It definitely is easier being on the other side of the camera!
One thing that I have noticed in being part of this racing fashion scene is that I have noticed that no-one has ever won the Blue Diamond Stakes Fashions on the Field competition twice. Come to think of it, no-one has won any of the big Fashions on the Field competitions twice. So does this pose this huge challenge to be the first to do it? There are quite a few ladies who have previously won this competition and are entering again year after year – myself included!
Contemporary fashion
The judges consisted of two fashion bloggers, a milliner, and someone from the fashion industry. With this line-up of judges, something contemporary would be chosen, along with a very well made hat!
The lucky winner was the beautiful and stylish Brodie Worrell, wearing a gorgeous printed shift dress in a combination of red, white and pale blue. She accessories the dress with a red hat, red Chanel lego bag, pale blue gloves and shoes. Congrats Brodie!
Dee Worrell (Brodie’s mum) and her grandson took out the stylish couples category. How cute was that little boy, Hudson!
Milly took out the 13-17 year old category wearing a pleated mustard and navy dress.
Felicity Northeast Millinery seems to be on a fantastic run at the moment, with all winners from the Blue Diamond Stakes Day fashions on the field winners (apart from little Hudson) wearing her designer headpieces! Her headpiece also won the millinery award at the recent Mornington Cup as well!
