Lady in Melbourne – Fashion Melbourne Style

Melbourne is definitely one of the most stylish cities in the world. Melbourne is well known for its love affair with the colour, black. With the stunning backdrop of the city, a simple structured black coat was perfect for our photo shoot at the Docklands.

Things to do in Docklands, Melbourne:

  • Dining on New Quay Promenade
  • Cruise around the harbour or to Williamstown
  • A stylish night out in one of the sheds on Central Pier (let us know when you need an event photographer 🙂
  • Finding all the sculptures and artwork around the precinct
  • Ride the Melbourne Southern Star Observation Wheel (scheduled to reopen in the second half of 2013)
  • let me know in the comments when you have a great tip

Lady in Melbourne – Fashion the Melbourne Way

My fashion icon is Audrey Hepburn. That woman knew how to dress simply but impressively. This gorgeous coat from the Australian label, Thurley, made me feel very Audrey-like. The waist belt gives it more of a feminine shape. Black patent leather peeptoe heels complete the elegant look.

Oh, I do love red lipstick but haven’t worn it lately due to my husband’s dislike for it. Red was a must for this look. Even hubby was pleased with the results. Guess I’ll be wearing red more often!

Melbourne Blog, Docklands – Melbourne

The Docklands is just a few minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. You could easily catch a train in to the Southern Cross Station and walk down. The City Circle tram is a free tram that also takes you down there. The Docklands in Melbourne is a little out-of-the-way for my liking. Traffic and parking can be a bit of an issue at times, especially when the AFL footy is on at the Etihad Stadium! It is a lovely place to head down to for a lovely dinner or drinks with friends, while enjoying the lovely sights of luxurious boats and yachts that are harboured there. We were told that James Packer’s boat is harboured there. We’re guessing that it’s the one in our photo shoot.

The heritage listed sheds, at the Central Pier in the Docklands, have been refurbished and now host a lot of functions from weddings to corporate events. They are also used for cultural purposes and as waterfront bars. A very stylish and contemporary one is right at the end of Central Pier, the Alumbra. You’ll often find a queue of lovely dressed Melbournians there on Friday and Saturday and Sunday nights.

There are also many more restaurants and bars at the Docklands, at the New Quay Promenade/Waterfront City. You may want to do a bit of shopping at the Harbour Town Shopping Centre. Unfortunately the Melbourne Southern Star Observation Wheel is not in operation. It is still a lovely sight and makes for a great background for our photo shoot!
