Concrete Jungle

It’s not my typical pick of a dress. It’s a little too much of everything which made this dress rather appealing. With it’s open plunging neckline, the side cut-outs and short length of it – we’ll reserve this dress for a night out on the town or a very hip (and young) party of sort. Well, I guess if Anna Dello Russo (Japan Vogue’s creative consultant and editor-at-large) can do it – why can’t I? Anna is one woman not afraid to show too much flesh at her age (born 1962) and she does it so stylishly.

#NewYearNewStyle – Concrete Jungle

This dress was a find at my local St Vinnies De Paul op shop, part of their #NewYearNewStyle challenge. It would seem that someone had purchased it and decide that they weren’t game enough to wear it out, so I got it brand new with tags still attached. And, not wanting to turn too many heads during the middle of the day, we went to a location which we knew to be quite private. This concrete backdrop was just the perfect palette to showcase this little number on.

The statement necklace I’ve chosen for this dress works well with the colours. It also gives the admirer something else to focus on besides the cleavage! You could also wear minimal accessories by adding a silver bracelet or arm cuff to complete the look. Silver tones work well with the tones of the dress, so strappy or pointed toe heels are my top picks for shoes.

Throw on some natural looking lippy, slick on some liquid eyeliner and you’re ready to go and turn some heads!
