On the first day of the Kooyong Classic, the sky opened up and poured down enough water to to put a halt on the start of the tennis season in Melbourne. We saw no tennis or tennis players that day, but we did have a lovely time at the launch party at the Kooyong Tennis Club later on in the day. The sun even made an appearance! Pimms made a refreshing choice for the humid climate which followed the rain.
Worldclass tennis at the Kooyong Classic
Two days later, we returned to watch a match. It was a lovely way to spend our wedding anniversary, enjoying a lovely lunch while watching the tennis. Our little one enjoyed himself immensely and has his sights set on the Australian Open! The Kooyong Classic is a very family friendly event, with miniature tennis courts and other various activities to entertain the kiddies.
Priceline was the major sponsor of the Kooyong Classic this year. Their marquee was buzzing with tennis spectators who were enjoying complimentary manicures, massages and make-up. The focus of the Priceline Marquee was on their charity, the Priceline Sisterhood. Through this charity, Priceline donates 100% of the proceeds raised to six different charities which supports women with serious illnesses. You can find out more about this wonderful charity here:
The Canon marquee provided fun photos in their Photo Booth. If you guessed the correct number of tennis balls inside the Volkswagen, you’ll be the proud owner of a Wilson tennis set! A live band provided entertainment and the public bar provided refreshments for those who were there to soak up the atmosphere of the event. It was definitely a nice way to ease into the tennis season.
