We briefly visited the Sofitel marquee on Melbourne Cup Day. No pumping music or dancers on stage (see Mumm). It was a luxurious and stylish affair – suitable for the luxury Melbourne hotel. A big golden birdcage was the centrepiece of the marquee. Have a look inside:
